All this appreciation of Joe Biden is deserved. I can't imagine how a person could work so hard. And he does not even seem burnt out. His heart stays true, open, caring, despite all opposition. I understand, too, that it is a team effort that contributes to his accomplishments.
It is his virtues of empathy and care and goodness that many of us saw for his re-election. Frankly, that goes a long way, beyond making a mistake or misstep in language or debate. I know someone in her 80's and though her memory is impacted, her heart becomes more loving with time.
Though I am non-partisan, I sobbed when I heard he withdrew--so moved by his dilemma of people asking him to step down, and how that could affect him, and him wanting to finish the job. So many of us can't imagine how much effort went into many of his initiatives that went into his "job."
When I was little, I overheard my father and a close friend of his talking. The friend said, "We can agree to disagree." He maintained that they could still be friends despite such disagreement--that was the feeling I got.
I am grateful to see President Obama on Medium, and I ask if there are any disagreements with anything he mentioned, or omissions you feel might be pointed out, to kindly be courteous--to our fellow writer, our former President, and someone who has worked sooooooooo hard for our country--we cannot even imagine the load and pressure these presidents endure and the skills it takes to respond to them all.
As to you, President Obama, I love how human and vulnerable and humorous you are. I repeat one phrase you said here and there, one that I knew as true but as a non-partisan I won't repeat.
