Hmmmm....hmmm....I liked the cows roaming at U.C. Santa Cruz, but more than that I had great teachers and one wonderful advisor. Columbia was....challenging - had an advisor that seemed to want to screen me out, and another advisor who was a dentist in my public Health studies - not anything related to what my aims were.

But it was social work school and public health school so though there was some of that power over type of feel at times, and loans to pay back for 25 years, we didn't really have that unethical feel or those type of job options you encountered.

I found the classes and instructors at UC Santa Cruz just as good as at Columbia, but Columbia demading more of our writing (but it was grad school). Now USC, that's where I studied with Leo Buscaglia. Other memorable classes there as an undergraduate. I think my degrees have opened doors for me in terms of jobs but frankly, when I got through Columbia, I was so stuffed with left brain reading and internship and paper demands that I just craved art. I think the over-stuffing was not conducive to the learning of people with various learning styles, like me, and didn't leave a lot of time to reflect and think for myself.
