Thank you for these reminders. I went back to my recently published story and have been furiously trying to get the citations right. Though I used to teach university and be more up on this for reviewing student papers, it's been a long minute and I have a few questions, the answers of which may seem obvious:

Can a full citation for a book be linked in the text of the article? Or is it preferable to put it at the bottom?

I recall that Medium permits several style guides - are they APA and ?

If I allude to going to a course (on Kabbalah) and learning something from it, albeit it was many years ago, do I need to reference the course itself?

If I am referring to a story someone told me that came from a book, and I've never read the book, but have confirmed that the story came from that book, can I just cite the book or do I need to read the book and/or cite the personal conversation?

And finally, I came across a little dilemma - in referencing this book, there were two copyrights:

References: O’Hanlon, B. (1999). Do one thing different: Ten simple ways to change your life. (20th Anniversary ed.). New York, NY: Harper & Collins

It has an Intro copyright 1999 Bill O’Hanlon, and text copyright 1999. Do I need to include that? Also, I don't seem to be able to indent for the reference on Medium.

I understand if you dont have tme to respond to all these questions, being a writer and an editor.

Thanks for the reminder and also for the tip about noting when you have originally published on another site/platform. Congratulation and thanks for being a new editor on this growing, inclusive publication. I wonder if someone might like to include a handy style guide if this is a significant and sometimes inadvertent challenge. I'll volunteer if it's desired.
