Thank you for the integrity and thoughtfulness with which you presented this topic -- one I had just heard a hint about before your considered article. In the spirit of thoroughness and making the situation more real, you tried out the bot and gave us a taste of what it can be like with that poem about the moon over water.

One positive use I could see this chatGPT AI bot is for reassurance for the self when going through a down moment --when one could ask the bot for a poem about "God loves me" or "I am loved and lovable" or "sunshine and stars within" at an uncertain time. One could ask for a serene poem before bed in the style of Rumi. Then, one could read the poem and go peacefully to dream whispers. There are so many tests and difficulties in personal life and in the news of the current world, perhaps the most difficult one man has ever sustained, so that using the bot for creative upliftment may be helpful.

But I could see this bot could very easily be misused, and honesty is a quality that needs to be emphasized and cultivated in the consciousness of people - I'm concerned this could add to the opposite. I can't bring myself to think it could duplicate my creative originality, but I get the concern! Perhaps this type of AI introduced by google on gmail which gives reply choices to the emails we send might have given us a premonition of more to come. It was handy but scary. Was it reading our emails, I wondered.

I am from the generation where human operators answered the phones for companies (I was even a receptionist at one time) and it is a huge adjustment to navigate these phone answering programs that bombard with information according to their agendas, and/or frustrate by not having the answer to what you need. Apple has the simplest and kindest system in their Apple Care, letting you choose silence or what type of music you hear as you wait.

A coach who focuses on the many human parts that make us up told me she is developing her AI part as it is part of the world we live in. She takes great care before entering the world of phoning a company, that she is not hungry or tired, and she does self care, preparing herself for a timeless perhaps two hour journey with contacting a company and getting questions answered.

How can we balance out living in and using mechanized systems that don't see or feel us, hear us, know when we are feeling strong emotions about their service while we listen to their recorded messages. I hope our poetry from the soul and heart and our in-person connections (or at least those on Zoom) can balance out the business vibes of talking to machines, bots and apps. Perhaps all the focus on mindfulness techniques and self-care that has has grown in the last decade has come at the right time been brought to us to help us gracefully get through mechanized times. It may be a time in history to arrange to receive a lot of massages, and receive the bounties of being in nature, while we can.

According to a principle of stress management, you can handle the hormones and impact on the sympathetic nervous system stress if you balance them with activities that create the opposite types of effect and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system.

There is always love, kindness, gentlenessss--not sure they can be replicated well by non-human means, but hints of these gifts might be able to be felt wherever they come from. If nothing else, we develop patience and flexibility due to adjusting to these artificial communications, and keep writing to bring genuine voice and soul to the world.

Love,
