This is a gorgeous article - so well written, with tucked in humor and effervescence. It also gave me some new ideas to clear my busy-ness and waste of time.
You asked about what we do to turocharge our creativity. Here goes: Doing an expressive art process to scribble, mini journal and dance to express a current stress and then do the same to a visualization of the most wonderful outcome helps me unclutter emotionally.
Afterwards i like to read and reflect on sacred Writings. I often start by reading "love-letters" from a spiritual teacher I love -- letters he wrote to others that I step into for the vicarious adornment of love and sanctity. (This is my ideal creative diving board). When I write from this place it really turns my heart on and vivifies my writing. A bit of OCD gets those editing juices flowing.
Miscellaneous: I keep several files with encouraging responses to my stories -- but don't read them enough. I dance in classes - using Five Rhythms - a particular free movement tool that loosens up the psyche. And - oh yes -- nature. I took a hike the other day in the Hollywood Hills and there was so much beauty I just wanted to take readers with me on that hike step by step.
Thank you for asking (and for publishing my recent "Two Hints..." story; I've used the aforementioned OCD to refine a bit, adding more references).
